The Allen Public Library will be closed Dec. 24-26. It will re-open Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Do something good for yourself, volunteer

Geriatric Wellness Center Project Independence is seeking volunteers to spend time with the elderly as they move from post-hospitalization to everyday living at various locations around the Collin County area in a program called Project Independence. Minimum age required to volunteer is 25.

School's out - time to party

Allen Parks and Recreation will present their Edge Christmas Break Bash from 3 to 9 p.m. tonight at The Edge at Allen Station Park, 201 E. St. Mary. Kids will enjoy an afternoon of contests in the skate park, video game tournaments and a King of the Court dodge ball event. Activities will be supervised. Free admission.
