You and your beloved pets are invited to join the SPCA of Texas on Saturday, Jan. 13, as they microchip furry family members for the discounted price of $20 at area clincs. Microchipped animals are easily scanned and can be reunited with their human companions should they become lost. Appointments necessary. To schedule an appointment, call 214-742-SPCA (7722). The Collin County SPCA is located at 8411 Stacy Road/FM 720 (near Custer Road) in McKinney. Hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed for lunch noon to 1 p.m.

Dave Balch, author of “Cancer for Two: An Inspiring True Story and Guide for Cancer Patients and Their Partners,” will speak at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano’s monthly Living Well With Cancer informational session from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8 in Conference Room A/B. Cancer patients and their family members and friends will benefit from Balch’s words of hope as he discusses, “You can handle more than you think you can: your amazing ability to be brave and strong.”
Living Well With Cancer is held at 6 p.m. the second Monday of every month, covering a variety of topics. Dinner and free parking are provided.
