Teachers - sign up now for a pre-retirement seminar

Allen ISD and the Retired Educator Associations of Allen, Frisco and McKinney will sponsor a pre-retirement seminar for school employees retiring within five years at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25 at Allen High School, 300 Rivercrest. The deadline to register is Monday, Jan. 22.

Collin County Retired Teachers meeting next week

The next meeting of the Collin County Retired Teachers Association is slated for 9:45 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, at Wilmeth Schoolhouse at Chestnut Square Historical Village, 315 S. Chestnut Street in McKinney. Curator Heather Boykins will discuss "Teaching in the One-room Schoolhouse." Refreshments will be served.

Catch a mystery in Plano this weekend

Rover Dramawerks will present Private Eyes at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19 at the Cox Building Playhouse, 1517 H Ave. in Plano.
The play is a comedy of suspicion set in a psychiatrist's office in which nothing is ever quite what it seems. The audience plays the role of detective.

A Critical Case of Murder on Collin County stage tomorrow

Pegasus Theatre will present A Critical Case of Murder at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18 at the Countrywide Theatre in the Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive in Richardson. The play is a 1930s black and white set production in a police station. In this farce, theater critics are being murdered and the actor turned detectives are not helping to solve the mystery. Tickets range from $20 to $75. Group discounts are available.

Always Patsy Cline at area theater this weekend

McKinney Repertory Theatre and Ted Swindley Productions will present Always, Patsy Cline at 2:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 in the Courtroom Theatre at the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 North Tennessee St. The musical production is based on the story of Patsy Cline’s friendship with Houston housewife, Louise Seger. Hear Cline tunes Walkin’ After Midnight, Crazy and more.
