The Knights of Columbus will be holding it’s annual Basketball Free Throw Contest for all boys and girls ages 10-14 between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday, Feb. 3 in the St. Jude Catholic Church activity center located between Exchange Parkway and Stacy Road on Highway 5. There is no charge to compete.

The seventh annual Arbor Day Celebration will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at Allen Station Park, 1120 N. Cedar Drive. The official ceremony starts at 10 a.m. This year’s celebration features the planting of the Pecan Grove south of the Allen Station Park softball complex and north of the picnic shelter area along with the planting of 85 10 gallon Pecan trees sponsored by Keep Allen Beautiful.

Trees for Allen, annual tree sale sponsored by the Keep Allen Beautiful board continues through Tuesday, Feb. 16. Allen residents can purchase 10 gallon native shade trees for $35. The price includes the cost of delivery and a free Keep Allen Beautiful T-shirt.
Any trees remaining after the sale will be offered for sale at the Arbor Day Celebration at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at Allen Station Park, 1120 N. Cedar Drive. Order forms are available at city hall and the senior center.

Music director Hector Guzman and the Plano Symphony Orchestra will present "A Midsummer Night's Dream - Music of Shakespeare," a combination of music and theater with the voices of Texas Voices Women’s Chorus and music by Mendelssohn at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Eisemann Center, Hill Performance Hall, 2351 Performance Drive in Richardson. Tickets range from $9 to $70.
