The Collin County Sheriff’s Office is now posting a searchable list of more than 35,000 active warrants on the county’s web page. The list covers active arrest warrants from class-c misdemeanors to first-degree felonies, and includes fine amounts, bond amounts and the name, physical description and the last known address of an offender. The web page also has instructions posted on how those on the list can pay off late fines and fees, plus ways to alert authorities on where to find those being sought.
The Active Warrants List includes offenses from fishing without a license to unpaid traffic tickets to burglary and other felony crimes that have been committed in Collin County. Late last year, the Collin County Sheriff’s Office began posting the county jail’s Current Inmate List online as well. Both can be reached from the Sheriff’s Office section of the website.
“The Internet is an important source of information in today’s world, and this addition to our website will allow the public access to up-to-the-minute critical information,” said sheriff Terry G. Box.

February is Love Your Library Month and the Texas Library Association has put out a list of 65 reasons to love your library. From that list we bring you a few good reasons: Use the library computers for free, prepare to tackle home improvement projects with how-to books and DVDs, learn why all your fish died in your aquarium, learn how to train your puppy, find out how to replace your lost birth certificate, and in keeping with the coming tax season – get your IRS forms online.
In keeping with the sweetness of Valentines Day, Allen Public Library will have baskets of chocolate kisses, pencils and stickers as giveaways starting Feb. 14 as they celebrate their second anniversary.
The library is also sponsoring a bookmark contest so local residents can express why they love their library. Categories include fourth and fifth-graders, sixth through 12th-graders, and adults. The winning bookmarks will be printed for library patrons to use. Winners will also be featured in a Read poster for the library display and receive a $25 Barnes and Noble gift certificate.
The library is located at 300 N. Allen Drive. For contest details or more information, call 214-509-4906.
