Texins Flying Club is offering private pilot ground school for those who seek a private pilot certificate. Upon successful completion of the class one may take the Federal Aviation Administration written exam required for pilot licensing.
Registration will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13 at Collin County Regional Airport. Classes will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 15 through May 17 at the airport,1500 E. Industrial Blvd. in McKinney.

The National Association of Women Business Owners Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter Collin Denton Area Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15 at the Radisson Hotel lobby bar, 1981 N. Central Expressway in Richardson. Registration is required by 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Earn money for the Allen Public Library by bringing items you no longer need to the library for recycling. Items the library will accept include, empty printer, fax and copier cartridges, and cell phones. Deposit the items in the Green Library Project collection box in the lobby during library hours.

First United Methodist Church of Allen is recruiting volunteers between the ages of 13 and 65 for a taste testing from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27 at the church, 601 S. Greenville Ave. Proceeds will help raise funds for activities for AHS After Prom. Free babysitting will also be available. Sign up online for 30 or 40 minute shifts.

Rotary and Carter BloodCare will sponsor a CCCD Campus Challenge Blood Drive at the Spring Creek Campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Area Rotary clubs volunteers will be on hand to help with the drive.

HomeAid Dallas helps provide a safe haven for families affected by domestic violence. Their primary fundraiser is Project Playhouse which involves raffling playhouses built by local homebuilders. Volunteers are needed Feb. 24 to greet playhouse visitors, share the HomeAid story, and promote the sale of raffle tickets. Use keywords “Project Playhouse” on the VMC website.
