Brigadoon now showing

Allen Public Library will host the screening of the movie Brigadoon as the first in a series of staff picks at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the Auditorium, 300 N. Allen Drive. The movie is free.

99-year-old local resident remembers the hogs

border=”1”Allen resident, Iva Morrow will be 99 Saturday, March 10. She will celebrate the milestone with a party among family and friends. Morrow was born in Allen. She married the late Beamon Morrow and worked as a cook at Allen ISD and spent 15 years as nursery director at First Baptist Church. Said Morrow reflecting on her 99 years, “One of the hardest days of the year was hog killin’ time when everybody worked from dawn to dusk.

Tech speak for teen techies

Allen Public Library will host Tech Speak Thursday as part of Teen Tech week from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 8. Speakers from CCCCD and ITT Technical Institute will talk about their technology class. The event is free.

Allen Chamber of Commerce will host Tuesday Morning Live, a weekly networking breakfast at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow at Bennigan’s, 305 N. Central Expressway. Cost is $1 members and $3 non-members.
