The City of Allen opened the St. Mary bridge connecting Greenville Avenue to the central business district and Allen Drive Feb. 20. This bridge connection will provide improved access to the Allen Senior Recreation Facility, The Edge at Allen Station Park, the Allen Public Library and downtown businesses. The project is part of a collaborative effort involving the City of Allen, the Allen Economic Development Corporation and the Allen Community Development Corporation.

The American Red Cross will host a seven and a half hour program about Babysitting for 11 to 15 year olds from 10:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 17 at Joe Farmer Recreation Center, 1201 E. Bethany. The program is designed to teach children how to become responsible babysitters, teaching rescue breathing, what to do when someone is choking, and other important information to help babysitters be more prepared in an emergency situation.
Cost is $64.

The Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium will observe summer hours during spring break, March 5-9. Monday, Wednesday and Friday they will be open from 1to 8:45 p.m. and Thursday from 1 to 6 p.m. For additional information, call 214-509-4770.

The CCCCD Invitational Printmaking Show and Portfolio Print Exchange “if the hat fits … ” exhibit will conclude at the art gallery at Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10. The exhibit is free.

Be an extra Saturday, March 10 at Texas Stadium. The Friday Night Lights TV show needs 5000 volunteers to play fans in the football stands. Extras will be expected to stay for the duration of the filming day, which starts in the morning and lasts anywhere from four to 10 hours. Snacks and beverages will be provided. If filming extends beyond six hours, lunch will be served as well. There'll also be giveaways and raffles. The best part - sign up through the contact below and a donation will made to Allen Community Outreach.
Deadline to sign up is NOON Thursday. E-mail Kristina@acocares.org and include name, age, e-mail address, and phone number. For ages 10 and up. Official filming day start time and photo release form will be sent out via email later Thursday afternoon.

Allen Parks and Recreation Senior Recreation Center will host Lunch O’ the Irish at noon Friday, March 16 to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at 451 St. Mary. Wear green. Cost is $6.
