Curves in Allen is sponsoring a food drive to benefit The Allen Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry during the month of March. Those wishing to donate may drop off non-perishable food items at Curves Monday through Saturday during business hours. Some items they need include peanut butter, canned fruit, cereal, spaghetti sauce, toilet paper, and paper towels.
Curves has locations at 107B N. Greenville Ave. and 1212 W. McDermott Drive, Suite 220.

The Allen Public Library and Friends of the Library, in cooperation with city, school, and community partners, will sponsor a One Book Project in Allen late this year encouraging the entire city to read the same book. As part of this project, the Friends are sponsoring a student logo design contest open to seventh and twelfth-grade students.

Allen Public Library and AARP will offer free tax aid in the library meeting room, 300 N. Allen Drive. Get help with tax preparation and e-filing from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, March 12.

The Heritage Guild of Collin County will kick-off Living History Days with the a vintage clothing fashion show featuring styles from 1850 through 1930 in the Dulaney House from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 11 at Chestnut Square, 315 S. Chestnut St. Admission is free. A $5 donation is recommended.

The Heard Natural Science Museum 2007 Photo Contest entries are on display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays through March 31 at 1 Nature Place. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children. Admission is free to members.
