A water-wise landscaping seminar will be held 7 to 9 p.m Thursday in Allen City Hall Council Chambers, 305 Century Parkway. The seminar will include presentations from local experienced gardeners on the best practices using SmartScape landscaping, handouts to guide plant selection and ideas on how to achieve beautiful gardens. For ages 15 and up. Cost is $5.

Allen Community Theatre is holding open call auditions for the production of Disney's Aladdin Jr. for kids ages 7-18 from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 16 and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17 in the Curtis Middle School theatre room. Performance dates are June 4-9. Auditions will be cold readings, and children should be prepared to sing a short song from the movie. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Allen Philharmonic Symphony will present Scholars and Shamrocks dinner and concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17 at Lovejoy High School Auditorium, 2350 Estates Parkway in Lucas. Dinner and concert pricing is $38 for adults, $35 for seniors, $28 for older students and $20 for students in fifth-grade or younger. For season ticket holders, the dinner price is $25 for all adults, $20 for students with a discounted price or $12 for students in fifth-grade and younger. Tickets for the concert only are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors and $8 for students. All concert tickets will have a $2 additional charge if purchased at the door. Reservations for dinner are required.
